We want you to feel empowered

Transforming story telling

Studio Kiin is an Indigenous-led creative studio and collective. We are a family of storytellers who are working to normalise story sovereignty, cultivate kinship and prioritise healing in creative practice. We are passionate about empowering artists to lead with culturally responsive, ethical and sustainable creative practice.

We look for opportunities to bring ideas, stories or projects to life that are sustainable, exciting and challenging

We don’t do ‘one size fits all’ and our job is not to tell you how to tell your story. We work to empower people to tell their story their way and on their terms. Our methods are tailored to the specific needs of each community, project and partnership we collaborate with through the honouring place, space and time that they exist in.

The work that we do enables Studio Kiin to pay the rent by making quarterly payments to a handful of amazing local grassroots First Nations story sovereignty initiatives.

A re-imagined approach

At the core of what we do is our love for our stories and our ancestral ways of knowing. But why do we care about stories so much? Studies show that when presented with new information, on average, humans tend to remember stories more than they remember statistics.

Humans love stories so much that we enter into a trance like state when watching or listening. Not only this, but in many cultures, the role of the storyteller embodies sacred knowledge and histories specific to space, place and time.

Therefore, we see storytelling as critical to improving quality of life and social cohesion, preserving cultural and scientific knowledge and necessary to human survival.

Our Core Values

  • Tupu/Grow

Creating opportunity to share knowledge, learn skills and build career paths across communities and generations to expand our culture of reciprocity.
